UX researcher + founder of Sociotekno 👋
I am Mandeep Basi. My curiosity about people and how they make sense of their worlds led me to pursue a career in applied research.
After obtaining my PhD in Anthropology, I started my career as a UX researcher at Shopify. I was the first researcher there to carry out primary research on the buyer experience. Then, I shifted my focus to entrepreneurs and generated insights to help them create exceptional e-commerce experiences for their buyers.
After 4+ years at Shopify, I started Sociotekno consultancy so I could apply my expertise to an even broader set of problems. As an independent researcher, I have worked with different organizations in ecommerce, food, hospitality, and health. Montréal is home but I currently reside in Paris, France where my partner leads his post-doctoral project.
In my spare time, I like combining road-biking with travelling, vegetarian cooking, writing, and mentoring on ADPlist.org.
